PRISCA'S WEB COURSE ROCKS!

Alena Chenevix Trench

Just a few words how I feel about the Design For The Web course and about my lovely teacher; Gladys Knight & The Pips
(view Gladys and the funny backing singers/dancers)
captured it perfectly in their 1970's song:

…I guess, you could say that I've been lucky
Well, I guess you could say that's all because of you…

(Lucky? Yes. You called me out of the blue: …are you still interested in the web course?… then how I got to get enrolled into the course… I wasn't allowed into the college and you came out with the paperwork…)

…There have been times when times were hard,
but always somehow I made it, I made it through…

(Yes, there were tears when times were hard, but without your help and support it would not have been possible…)

That's all because of you!

Thank you :)

Just a poem I thought was relevant for a time like this :)

Thou Shalt Not Offend Thy Web Designer

Saint Peter peers carefully at
Mister Dorffenburger's account,
stroking his bearded chin.
"A life mostly free of sin," the keeper of keys begins,
"That's not a common thing.
But there's a single minor
detail that I really must bring
up. That website you requested,
the one you wanted to 'pop!'
You really couldn't stop
badgering the poor designer
about it. To be frank, you gave
her a lot of shit. If you'd just
let her work her stuff, your
site would be clean —
lean of fluff, even — and more
than a little functional.
I'm afraid a mark like that
has gunked up your chances."
The Heavens roil, Mister
Dorffenburger soils himself,
and the Dark King's own fist
drags him to Hell's shadows,
to Hell's red mists. Saint Peter
gives his white beard a twist,
says "Sometimes I wonder
if that eleventh commandment
got missed."
by Gabriel Gadfly

I will miss you more than I would my PC on holiday… lol :)

Thanks for all the time and knowledge you have given me and the class…

all the best for the new class.
We shall speak again.

Prisca!

I want to say a big thank you for running this course, I feel so lucky that I had the opportunity to do it and that I found it (thanks to Rinalds).

I gained not only a huge amount of skills and knowledge from this course but also belief in myself, confidence and enthusiasm to keep going and doing what I love.

I wish many more people will be lucky enough to find you and your course, and share this same experience.

Thank you! :)

Aija

P.S. I think you should give yourself a holiday :)

I am very grateful for what you tought me and I wished this course would last for many more years.

It has been a dream come true and a fantastic experience that I will never forget.

Being on your course, I felt special, lucky and cannot wait for the big moment when I will dive into the web design industry.

I think that this experience was perfect overall, a passionate teacher, great and crazy classmates :) and we all contributed in creating a warm, fun environment.

Thank you Prisca ever so much xx

Dear Prisca :-)

Just wanted to say thank you for all the information you gave me… Now I need to absorb it and start to use it :-) And I have to say that it was a really good feeling to go back to college and to have class mates again like in the good old times.

Always Yours "what are you talking about?" student,
Renars.

An Ode to the Queen of the Web… That's you Prisca :-)

How computer illiterate can one be?
I couldn't distinguish between a mac or a pc
browsers and URL's
seemed like things out of this world
then destiny brought Prisca to me :-)

Now what a lucky girl am I,
I can design and code sites like Eric Meyer.
Okay, I won't go that far
But I feel like a star
Because I now understand web design :-)

Here's a big hug and thank you to Prisca and everyone in class 2011 :-D
- yes, I know it's been said before, but I'll say it again!
You guys rock!!!!!! \m/

Number One Teacher

Prisca,
I'm happy that you're my teacher;
I enjoy each lesson you teach.
As my role model you inspire me
To dream and to work and to reach.
 With your kindness you get my attention;
Every day you are planting a seed
Of curiosity and motivation
To know and to grow and succeed.
You help me fulfill my potential;
I'm thankful for all that you've done.
I admire you each day, and I just want to say,
As a teacher, you're number one!
by Joanna Fuchs

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for being such a great teacher, you are a credit to your college. Wish you and your future students all the luck in the world.

Thank you so much Prisca.

Thanks to your silver iPhone at Caffè Nero I met you,
At the beginning I couldn't understand you
Naming geeks and webdesigner
My brain was going under.

Thanks to my book of wisdom,
My brain recovered its freedom,
"sure" we all had to be on time and behave,
and on the 1st of July, this will be just a goodbye with my royal wave.

These few lines sum up the year I spent with you.

I learned so much from you, your good eye for graphics, your good fingers for coding and of course, your big AWESOME brain for fixing our broken sites!

I'm already jealous of your new students who will learn new geek names from you and who will have to reply to all of your questions staring at you blankly!

Happy coding Prisca ;)

I'm not good at making speeches, and I hate goodbyes, just wanted to say, that you, Prisca, and all of you guys — class of 2011 were such a blessing to me.

That "Design for the web" course was a wonderful experience through the whole academic year. A great lesson to get to know my abilities, to see where I still needs some improvements, and find out my future goals, a lesson of life.

I got to know so many new things, not only about web environment and design, but also about communication, file and time organization, and live experience during the projects.

And there are so many Thank You I want to say to you, Prisca, too many to count, but few of them:

  • My greatest Thank you for all I've learnt from you, not only in a web field, but for all that you are — an amazing teacher, inspiring personality, green person (doesn't sound right, but just wanted to mention it :) ), freedom fighter.
  • Thank you for keeping calm when everything seemed falling apart, encouragement, when it seemed like "I'm not going to make it", and for always being there for us.
  • Also a huge "Thank you" for the wonderful course site you made and kept on updating for us — it's such a treasure valley to return to it again and again.
  • Thank you for never giving up on me or anybody else.
  • And many, many more Thank you for who you are!

Wishing you the greatest students for next year — they'll have to work for it, to beat us :)

Lots of sparkling ideas, "rainbow bits", and loads of love for class of 2011!

There is no such a thing as ending — everything has just begun! And, as they say — let's Rock the web!

so — no goodbye's…
see you soon then, instead

Always yours,
Solveiga

Dear Prisca,

Before I started this course I had no belief in myself. I lacked so much confidence in design but because you are such a wonderful person I now realise my potential. You have given me the drive to succeed in whatever I want to do.

In this year we have been a good team, thank you for defending me, Cowgirl :-p Never give up as a teacher because you make a difference in people lives. Thank you.

Once again I want to thank you for your encouragement and knowledge, I have learnt so much.

Prisca Rocks!

Sabrina :-)

P.S. I also want to say that you guys are my second family. I will miss you all :-(

Helmuts Erins

You are the best Rocking teacher in the world.

If I was a singer, I'd sing you a song…
If I was an artist, I'd draw you a picture…
If I was I poet, I'd write you a poem…

As long as it is just me, I'll say it in a simple and clear language:

<?php
  for (;;)
    {
      echo "Thank you!<br />";
    }
?>

P.S. …it is not my native, might be some syntax mistakes ;-P

You are the best Teacher I ever had, and the most wonderful person I ever met!

Thank you, Prisca, so much for every day being your student;
thank you for believing in me and giving me a chance;
thank you for all the knowledge and all the help you gave to me.

~ erika ~

P.P.S. It is the first time in my life when I feel really sad about finishing the course ;)
